Ingredients:
- For the Stir-Fry:
- 400g beef, thinly sliced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 cup carrots, thinly sliced
- 1 cup onions, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup chives, chopped
- 2-3 tablespoons cooking oil
- For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon sesame seed
Instructions:
Step 1 Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame seed. Mix until well combined.
Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning to your preference.
Step 2 Cook the Beef
Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add a small amount of oil. Once the oil is hot, add the sliced beef and stir-fry until it's almost cooked through, about 3-4 minutes.
Remove the beef from the wok and set it aside.
Step 3 Stir-Fry the Vegetables
In the same wok, add a bit more oil if needed. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the onions and carrots, and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
Add the broccoli and continue stir-frying for another 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are crisp-tender.
Step 4 Combine Beef and Vegetables with Sauce
Return the cooked beef to the wok with the vegetables.
Slowly pour the prepared sauce over the beef and vegetables, adding a little at a time. Stir well after each addition to coat everything evenly with the sauce. Continue to add the sauce until it reaches your preferred taste.
Continue stir-frying for another 1-2 minutes, until the beef is fully cooked and the sauce has thickened slightly.
Continue stir-frying for another 1-2 minutes, until the beef is fully
Step 5 Serve
Serve the beef stir-fry with vegetables hot, over steamed rice or noodles.
Notes:
- Meat Preparation: For easier slicing, freeze the beef for about 15-20 minutes before cutting. This will make it firmer and easier to slice thinly.
- Vegetable Variations: Feel free to substitute or add other vegetables like bell peppers, snap peas, or bok choy based on your preference.
- High Heat Cooking: Stir-frying is done at high heat, so keep the ingredients moving in the wok to prevent burning and ensure even cooking.
- Sauce Adjustments: If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can add a cornstarch slurry (1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water) to the sauce during the final stir-fry stage.
